Out Loud
As a Digital Engagement Assistant, I supported the expansion of The Andy Warhol Museum’s audio guide and iOS app, Out Loud, which helps blind and low-vision visitors navigate the museum.
Users can listen to in-app stories about nearby artwork and touch 3D printed replicas to explore the work in a new way. I created, remapped, and coded new content in JavaScript and pushed the app to TestFlight before releasing to the App Store.
The app is screen reader optimized, has enlargeable text, and provides in-depth visual descriptions of Warhol artworks and audio from museum stakeholders such as José Diaz (Chief Curator), Danielle Linzer (Director of Learning and Public Engagement), and Donald Warhola (Andy Warhol’s nephew).
Guests are invited to touch tactile reproductions of Warhol’s art and listen to guided audio as they feel and explore different areas of the reproduction.
